On October 26, 2002, we hosted a house concert for the very entertaining Chuck Pyle.

Bee 'n' Flowers Records artist CHUCK PYLE heralds the October 1st release of his newest album, "Affected By the Moon" with a Fall tour which included a stop on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26th at Russ & Julie's House Concerts! A troubadour in the truest sense of the word, Pyle routinely performs over 100 dates per year. Chuck Pyle is an artist who has honed his skills for over 30 years and one who has reached near-perfection in his live performances. Reviewers rave about his engaging voice, his guitar playing and his crowd-pleasing persona. Pyle is a pro who thrives in the spotlight or the campfire glow.

"[Chuck Pyle's] music is kind, insightful, catchy, possessing a wry humor, full of life, imagery and stories of people and places he's been."
-- InterMountainAcousticMusician SLC UT

Chuck Pyle performed solo, accompanied only by his signature "Rocky Mountain Slam Pickin'" guitar style. His unique playing has brought him so much recognition that he has given seminars at such prestigious events as the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop and the Swannanoa Gathering in North Carolina. A talented songwriter, Pyle has had had his songs recorded by artists like Jerry Jeff Walker, Chris LeDoux, the late John Denver, Suzy Boggus and The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band among others. Chuck Pyle's 1998 album, Keepin' Time By The River, is a favorite of ours.

"Chuck Pyle's music is good medicine. It starts my thoughts turning, gets my heart breathing, sends my imagination flying. His wild, solid rhythm keeps me thankful I have a body to move. . . His songs take me to the horizons of the mystic southwest..."
-- David Wilcox

Pyle's mellow voice is deceiving, able to soothe you - lift you up - make you laugh or make you weep. His wit and charm are legendary. Chuck says that he is "happiest" when he's performing; "the stage is where I am most alive, living and breathing every song that's been a part of me since its birth." His song "Colorado" became the theme song for the PBS series, Spirit of Colorado, which is beamed world-wide by satellite. In 1980, Chuck wrote "The Other Side of the Hill" which has been recorded by over 20 different artists including Chris LeDoux who renamed the song "Cadillac Cowboy" and took it to the top of the country charts in 1991. We feel fortunate to have been able to present a performer of Chuck Pyle's caliber in our home and he really wowed the audience!

"...Pyle's guitar accompaniment is particularly impressive. . . he combines country, folk, jazz and blues into his own hybrid sound. . ."
