Grass doesn't grow under Antara & Delilah's feet. Playing more than 200 shows since 1999, it comes as no surprise that this contemporary folk duo has been honored with the title "Best Local Band" by the Santa Barbara News-Press two years in a row (2001 and 2002).
Their sound possesses the spirit of Seals & Croft, the innovation and humor of the Dixie Chicks, and the poetry of Dar Williams. They are truly a delight!
Sitting solidly atop the Santa Barbara, California music scene, the duo has been busy branching out, taking their original tunes up and down the Pacific coast, and reaching eastward to the Atlantic, all the while garnering fans along the way.
After five years of collaboration and two self-produced CDs ("From Here", 2002 and "Dua", 2000), Antara & Delilah have their eyes solidly on the horizon. Finding inspiration in such artists as Joni Mitchell, Annie Lennox and Shawn Colvin, Antara & Delilah's music is characterized by lyrics springing from a deep sense of self. These lyrics, fused with distinctive harmonies and hook-laden melodies, carry the uncommon message of possibility.
Beautiful harmonies aside, there is something predestined about Antara & Delilah from their nearly simultaneous arrival in Santa Barbara in 1997 to their subsequent participation at a Jim Messina songwriting workshop. It was an evening of harmonizing to Beatles tunes that sealed their fate a duo was born. Be sure to visit Antara & Delilah's website at www.antdeli.com.
