On Saturday, June 12, 2004 we hosted a House Concert for The Rincon Ramblers

Left to Right: Dan Wilson, John Wilcox, Phil Salazar, Bill Flores

Having played together informally over the years, THE RINCON RAMBLERS emerged in 1994 as a "loosely-knit super group of local acoustic players," combining four of the South Coast's busiest and most respected musicians -- Jon Wilcox, Phil Salazar, Bill Flores, and Dan Wilson. All native sons of the Santa Barbara-Ventura area, each brings decades of performing, recording, and writing experience from their respective solo careers and stints with Marley's Ghost, the Acousticats, Chris Hillman, John McEuen's String Wizards, Kate Wolf, the Fender Benders, the Pontiax, and Crossroads.
"The Ramblers have succeeded in capturing the spirit of the Rincon Coast with acoustic music so pure, yet wild, expansive and free! They are a pleasure to experience..." --Chris Hillman

Left to Right: Dan Wilson, John Wilcox, Phil Salazar, Bill Flores

Fiddler PHIL SALAZAR is an acknowledged "young master". Mandolin player JOHN WILCOX is an exceptionally soulful and inventive singer and songwriter. Together they combine to give the Rincon Ramblers a unique and commanding vocal presence. DANNY WILSON and BILL FLORES are both dynamic and versatile multi-instrumentalists and writers, providing rhythmic foundation and musical coloration which enables the band to shine in a variety of styles ranging from modern and traditional folk and bluegrass to Celtic, Cajun, R&B, the occasional Dead-style jam and "progressive surfgrass."
"Talent-wise, this band of Ventura County locals is about as close as it gets to a super group, and thus about as good as it gets..." --Bill Locey, Los Angeles Times
The Rincon Ramblers play regularly at a variety of venues north of Los Angeles and have been favorites at festivals up and down the West Coast including Strawberry (Yosemite), Live Oak, Wild Iris, The Kate Wolf Memorial, Columbia River Gorge, and others. With the 1997 release of their CD The Green Rolling Hills of La Conchita, the band has received enthusiastic reviews in the national press as well as consistent radio airplay from as far afield as Scotland and Australia.

The House Concert here was in front of a fully packed house and these great musicians fully lived up to expectations, garnering a well deserved standing ovation and lots of new fans! Truly, this bunch of veteran musicians are as good as it gets in the California music scene.
