On Saturday, November 13, 2004 we hosted a House Concert for Jeff Black.

JEFF BLACK's colorful and personal insights become music that you can come back to again and again. Likened to rockers Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen and often compared to troubadour poets like Harry Chapin and Steve Goodman, Jeff's songs reside just outside the realm of pop music today. A stylist in the true sense of the word, Black has captivated audiences all over the world with his stories and inimitable delivery. The Kansas City born and Nashville based artist has shared stages with Steve Earle, Shawn Colvin, John Hammond and Guy Clark among others.

JEFF BLACK has long been recognized as an impactful songwriter. His songs have been covered by artists from the legendary Waylon Jennings to Sam Bush. The country band Blackhawk took their version of Black's anthem for individuality "That's Just About Right" all the way to #1. His music has been featured on the silver screen as well. Cajun/zydeco artist Jo-El Sonnier recorded "Never Did Say Goodbye" for the Paramount feature film and soundtrack The Thing Called Love; starring the late River Phoenix.

Although, most known for his writing, JEFF BLACK has always considered himself a performer first and foremost. The gifted multi-instrumentalist says he is most gratified by the creative exchange that takes place when he plays in front of a live audience. Not surprisingly, as it is when one does what one truly loves to do, it was his passion for performing that unearthed an equal passion to write songs that make a lasting contribution. "I started playing my songs around my hometown and after awhile, more and more people started showing up. They were really listening, so I figured I had better have something to say," Black explains. It's no wonder that audiences around the country are raving about him.

Our November 13th House Concert was a truly amazing night of music. With more than 100 people crowded into our living room, Jeff Black and Eric Hansen each presented truly wonderful sets of music. Sponsored by 92.7 Lite FM, the evening was one that will be long remembered by everyone here. We were very lucky to be able to get two such talented artists to share the evening... and we hope to bring back both Jeff and Eric at some point in the future.
